Jane is geboren in Carmel, California. De laatste 4 jaar van haar ballettraining volgde zij aan de National Ballet School in Canada. In 1979 starte ze haar danscarrière bij Het Nationale Ballet in Nederland, alwaar zij zich opwerkte tot soliste. Zij werkte met alle grote choreografen zoals Rudi van Dantzig, Hans van Manen, Toer van Schayk, George Balanchine en sir Frederick Ashton.
