William Lü was a member of Backhausdance for 7 years. He has also danced with
Helios Dance Theater of Los Angeles in 2009 and Regina Klenjoski Dance Company of
Torrance in 2002. His past credits include a lead in Yo-yo Ma's music video, PBS live
national broadcast of Holiday Celebration,Tiffany Billings’ Blind Faith and Disneyland’s live
productions. He was nominated as “Best Male Dancer of the Year” by the Beverly Hills
Outlook in 2004 and 2007.
Los Angeles Times praised him for his “enforced absolute
equality” presence on stage and Orange County Register raved him as “a risk taker” and
“a class of his own.”
He was awarded his second Lester Horton Award by the Los
Angeles Dance Resource Center for his performance in Jennifer Backhaus’ Push in 2008.
William has served as a guest teacher and featured artist for the McCallum Theater,
California Dance Educators Conference, Northern California Dance Conservatory, Mt.
San Antonio College and many other dance conservatories and colleges in the United
States. His eclectic background of training and experience has made him one of the
most sought-after dance educators in Southern California. His former students have
gone on to prestigious dance universities and dance companies, as well as jobs in the
commercial dance world.
While not dancing, William prefers to spend his time enjoying good food and video
games. He just recently relocated to the Netherlands and he cannot say enough
wonderful things about this country.
