Freestyle Vinyasa Yoga
Monday: 20:00 – 21:30 hrs Level Beg/Int
Thursday: 19:15 – 20:45 hrs Level Beg/Int
Class description
The classes are the natural result of my own yoga practice, experience and education.
A melting of basically two different forms of Yoga:
Freestyle Ashtanga Vinyasa and technique elements from the Iyengar Yoga. The melting results in a Slow Flow combined with Posture Technique.
In Vinyasa Yoga the focus is on synchronizing the Breath and Movement. Through the breath, each posture (asana) is linked into the next one in a serpentine flow. This marriage of breath and movement will create a dynamic and continuous flow; a meditation in motion.
In Iyengar Yoga the focus is on Technique and Alignment. You stay longer in the poses, so you can deeply explore your body and mind. Being longer in poses gives you the opportunity to penetrate your body and mind with your intelligence, so you can move with more awareness and grace. Also it will create more flexibility and strength in both body and mind.
In these dynamic, energetic and strong classes you will work on your strength, flexibility, stamina, balance and concentration. You will practice Standing and Sitting Poses, Forward and Backward Bends, Twists, Inversions (= upside down poses like headstand) and Balancing poses.
All Levels
The classes are dynamic and always a challenge, whether they cover basic poses or the more complicated ones. One has to be willing to work hard and to sweat, this is not yoga for relaxation. The relaxation and the change that you want in both body and mind will come only as a result of the intensity of your practice. People sweat a lot in these classes and in yoga this means that their organs, their bodies are detoxing! A good sign.
Some experience in yoga, dance or sports will be helpful, but everybody is welcome in this class: Beginners and Intermediates. For some absolute Beginners it turns out to be too demanding. So after your first class have a talk with the teacher to decide together if you are really fit for this class.
Arno: “We learn to move from our Core Power, not just on the mat, but also in our daily lives. And a meditative Flow on the mat creates a meditative Flow in your life!”
Information For Dancers
Through Yoga dancers of all levels can quickly improve their Flexibility, Strength and Balance. Many dancers work on lengthening their muscles, creating more flexibility. However, a healthy body needs good alignment and equal Flexibility and Strength as well as Equilibrium. Compared to Dancing, Yoga is a less explosive, more static Art. Moving slower and staying in poses for a longer time helps to improve Core Stability, Strength and Flexibility, as well as Concentration and Balance. Yoga will help Dancers to move their bodies with more awareness, resulting in more Grace and less injuries!
